YMCA Mission Statement: "To put Christian principals into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all." Deaf Session
Whether you’re looking for an inclusive camp environment for your deaf or hard-of-hearing child, or a way to expose your child to diversity, come join us for Session 7 for a unique camp experience. Since 1982 Camp Indian Springs has provided an environment where deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing campers can learn from each other and enjoy the camp experience together. With the help of interpreters and deaf staff members, in addition to the regular YMCA staff, the camp is accessible to everyone. Deaf campers participate in activities with hearing campers, and share cabins together. There is also a week-long LIT program available for deaf campers who are 14-16 years old, where they learn about leadership, responsibility, and Deaf Culture from deaf staff members. How to Register To register a camper for the Deaf Session click here. (Be sure to choose Session 7). To register an LIT (14-16 year old) for the LIT Deaf Session (one or two weeks) click here. Employment Opportunities If you are deaf, hard of hearing, or hearing and know sign language, you can volunteer to work at camp for Deaf Session. Deaf and hard of hearing staff members will work as cabin counselors alongside the hearing staff. Hearing staff will work as interpreters to facilitate communication between deaf campers and staff.
YMCA Camp Indian Springs will offer opportunities to develop and grow spirit, mind and body by providing positive leadership and encouraging a fun environment through an attitude of service to all.
