YMCA Mission Statement: "To put Christian principals into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all." ADVENTURE GUIDES A program built for you, lead by you, designed to go where you are! What is YMCA Adventure Guides? It is a program…
WHY BECOME A PART OF Y- ADVENTURE GUIDES? Before you know it your child will enter adolescence, the years where children start to become independent from their parents. In today’s society every one seems to be raising kids except for their family. Y-Adventure Guides is a program where you the parent step into your young child’s life and become not just their parent but the person of great, positive influence. WHO PARTICIPATES? A parent and a child between the ages of 5-10 years old. HOW DOES IT WORK? You and your child will be put together in a parent/child community that is of the same age and gender. Your community will meet together and encourage one on one relationship with your child through craft projects, service projects, camp outs, leadership roles in your community, and other special events. While you engage with your community your child will see you for who you are and visa versa. Your child will be able to gain self confidence through accomplishing tasks, public speaking, and leadership responsibilities.
WHEN DO WE MEET? Usually a community will meet once a month for a meeting, possible twice to do a special event together. WHERE DO WE MEET? The meetings are usually held in one of the parent/child homes, but may be also at a church or at the local Y.
WHAT DO I DO TO SIGN UP? Sign up by calling the Adventure Guide program director, Lesa Ward, at YMCA Camp Indian Springs (850) 926-3361.
